<% End if %> Great Harbour Deep is a small fishing village located on the North East Shoreline of the Northern Peninsula of  Newfoundland, approximately 40 km  East of Port au Choix  but has no connecting road to anywhere. The  population was approximately 150 until October,2002 when all residents reach a finanial agreement with the Newfoundland Goverment, sold all their homes & relocated. Most of them moved to Deer Lake while others moved to Jacksons Arm & various other communities close by.

It is well known as the community where Danny Cochran, (the lost ranger in the 40's) was  found following weeks in the bitter cold & snow of a Newfoundland winter. There is a Motel named after him in Great Harbour Deep called The Danny Cochran Lodge.More of this story can be found in a book called "Who will search for Danny". I read it & it is an excellent book. I was lucky enough to be invited to perform during  the closing down ceremony along with my friends from Labrador "Borderline". Terry Levallie of Borderline joked and said Frank bye' we closed down a few bars but this is the first time closed down a town.
